Marty is a Senior Associate and Project Director at Cline Bettridge Bernstein Lighting Design.  She graduated from Brandeis University and continued her studies at Parsons School of Design. She received her initial training as a lighting designer at CBB, then spent nine years at Flack + Kurtz Consulting Engineers, where she worked on a variety of large-scale projects.  Marty was welcomed back to CBB in 1998 as a Senior Associate.
She has held leading design roles in a great number of CBBLD’s award-winning projects.  Her work has been recognized with significant lighting design awards including the IIDA Edwin F. Guth Award of Excellence, the Lumen Award of Excellence, the Architectural Lighting Magazine Outstanding Achievement Award, the GE Edison Award, the IALD Award of Excellence and Award of Merit.
Marty is a Professional Member of the International Association of Lighting Designers (IALD) where she serves as a member of the Energy & Sustainability Committee and is one of the IALD representatives on the ASHRAE (American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers) Standard 90.1 Committee.  As a Member of the Illuminating Engineering Society (IES) she has been the secretary of the Library Lighting Committee since 2003, where she helped author new standards for illumination of libraries (RP-4).  Marty represents the IES in the Department of Energy’s Better Building Alliance Lighting working group, which worked with Pacific Northwest Labs to write a specification for energy-efficient parking garage and parking lot lighting.
