Architect, graduated from the Universidad Iberoamericana, class of 1969. Architectural lighting designer with professional development, technical and academic research in lighting, made ​​in Mexico, Europe and USA. Professor  in Master and Post-graduate courses at the Universidad Nacional Autonoma de Mexico-UNAM, Universidad Anahuac-UA, Universidad Iberoamericana, UIA, and other academic institutions. Guest speaker at courses, seminars and trade fairs in Milan, Portugal, Brazil, Germany, Finland, Greece, Russia, Argentina, France, USA and Mexico among others.


Gustavo Avilés has been a promoter and creator of the Lighting Master Plans for the cities of San Luis Potosi, recognized as City of Light by LUCI (Lighting Urban Community International de Lyon, France), obtaining the third place worldwide in Shanghai 2006. And the cities of Taxco, Puebla de los Angeles, Real del Monte, San Juan de Ulua and the city of Ouro Preto in Minas Gerais, Brazil.

He has developed national and international projects: the Mexican Pavilion at the Universal Exhibition Hannover 2000, Germany. Siebel Corporate - l'Etoile, Rond Point in Paris. Representative of PLDA and IALD in Mexico He es planning to establish the first  Architectural Lighting Master Degree Course at UNAM with universities in Wismar, Germany, KTH, Sweden, Parsons, United States and Atkos, Greece.
